Busan faces the water without ceremony. It works beside it, eats beside it, climbs above it, and meets it again at dusk.

Your route / Four chapters
01 · THE COASTAL LINE
Follow the city from salt air to evening light.
07:20 · Harbour
01
Jagalchi자갈치
Begin while the market is still unmistakably a workplace. Crates move, counters fill, and breakfast arrives without theatre. Look first, ask before photographing, and let the people working set the pace.
10:50 · Hillside
02
Huinnyeoul흰여울
The city lifts above the sea in lanes, steps, and walls that catch the coastal light. Walk slowly enough to remember that this is also a neighbourhood, not only a viewpoint.
14:10 · Crossing
03
Yeongdo영도
Harbour infrastructure and new creative spaces sit close together here. The pleasure is in the contrast: working edges, compact cafes, steep roads, and water appearing between buildings.
18:30 · Shore
04
Gwangalli광안리
Finish where the city turns toward the bridge and the beach becomes an evening room. Stay through the shift from daylight to electric light; Busan changes register without losing the sound of the water.
First Words language companion
A few words for the coast.
The guide follows the shape of the day. First Words carries the useful Korean for finding it, ordering from it, and meeting it with courtesy.
A market is not a checklist of dishes. Ask what is good today, order one thing at a time, and leave space for the recommendation you did not plan.

Before you go
Make the day work.
Arrive, then choose your connection
From Gimhae Airport, the light rail connects with metro Line 2 at Sasang and Line 3 at Daejeo. Choose the transfer for your accommodation rather than assuming one airport route fits every neighbourhood.
Make two geographic clusters
Suggested plan: combine Jagalchi with Yeongdo and Huinnyeoul, then give Gwangalli its own evening or another day. Huinnyeoul is within Yeongdo, so treat those two chapters as one area. Check a bus or taxi connection for the hillside; the metro is not a doorstep service.
Card, weather and return
Visit Busan lists Tmoney among cards supported for transfer discounts. Tap when boarding and leaving where required. Save your return route before going out, check the last service for that route, and use a market or café break when coastal weather turns.

Keep in your pocket
Field notes.
Read the incline
Busan’s map looks flatter than the city feels. Leave extra time where the route rises away from the water.
Group the coast
Neighbourhoods spread along the shoreline. Choose one side of the city for a day instead of racing between every beach.
Keep the evening open
The best final stop may be the patch of water nearest you when the light begins to change.
